Haus Hertefeld stands in the town centre of Weeze, in the Kreis Kleve, as a partly rebuilt castle ruin alongside a preserved Renteigebäude and a park of roughly five hectares. The site goes back to a fourteenth century knight's seat first recorded in 1322, though archaeological finds point to earlier occupation. Around 1700 Samuel von und zu Hertefeld turned the manor into a Baroque residence, which then burned down in 1945; between 1998 and 2006 the central section and the main gate tower were reconstructed. Visitors today can see the rebuilt tower with its restored Baroque cap, the surviving remains of the main house, and the old watchmen's lodges scattered through the park.
