Haus Hameren stands in Billerbeck, in the Münsterland region, and is notable for having been built on two separate moated islands, a layout still traceable in the course of the surrounding water today. Founded shortly after 1325 as a fortified manor on the water, it was split between two branches of the family following an inheritance division in 1543, before being reunited in 1755. Visitors can see a storage tower from 1593, a neo-Gothic chapel, and a two-winged manor house dating from 1549, remodeled in the 18th century, alongside a round tower built around 1600. The estate remains in the hands of the von Twickel family, who inherited it in the 19th century.
