Haus Geist is a former moated castle in the countryside near Oelde, combining elements of Weser Renaissance architecture and the Baroque, with a long history as a Jesuit residence. The site may go back to a medieval stronghold of the lords of Geist, but the structures seen today date from rebuilding campaigns in the 16th and 18th centuries. Only part of the complex survives, the eastern wing of the outer bailey and the Baroque north wing of the main house, after ditches were filled in and several wings torn down in the 19th century.
