To make a day of it

Halbes Schloss stands in Langenleuba-Niederhain (Landkreis Altenburger Land), in Thuringia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Halbes Schloss stands in Langenleuba-Niederhain, on the site of an earlier moated stronghold recorded before 1300. The present building, erected between 1707 and 1711 for the ennobled merchant Johann von Kuntsch, follows the Dresden baroque style fashionable at the time, its long façades marked by eighteen window axes. Original stucco ceilings survive inside, along with a festival hall featuring two open fireplaces. Behind the building, the earthwork of a much older circular rampart can still be traced, evidence of settlement on the spot before the German colonisation of the area.
