To make a day of it
Burg Kohren stands in Frohburg (Landkreis Leipzig), in Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Burg Kohren rises above Kohren-Sahlis, part of the town of Frohburg in the Leipzig district of Saxony, reduced today to two ruined towers that still shape the town's skyline. Its origins go back to the Sorbian settlement of the early Middle Ages, and after being destroyed in 1220 on the order of the Margrave of Meissen, it was rebuilt around 1240, the period to which the surviving masonry belongs. All that remains now are the two keeps with their raised entrances and stretches of the outer wall, the rest having been dismantled for building stone after the castle was given up in the sixteenth century.
