Ehemaliges Schloss stands in Königstein (Landkreis Amberg-Sulzbach), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.
The Burg Königstein stands on two rocky outcrops above the market town of Königstein in Bavaria, close to St. George's church, once linked to the castle by a footbridge leading to the lord's gallery. First recorded in the twelfth century under the Sulzbach ministerial family, it passed through marriage and inheritance to several lordly houses before coming to the Wittelsbachs and later the counts palatine of Sulzbach. The late Gothic northeastern wing and the rounded bastion on the second rock still recall that period, though fires in 1800 and 1895 altered much of the complex. The surviving buildings are now used as private housing.
