To make a day of it
Burgwall Groß Görnow stands in Sternberg (Landkreis Ludwigslust-Parchim), in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Burgwall Groß Görnow is a former Slavic hillfort site, set on a plateau above the Warnow valley near Sternberg. Built between the 8th and 10th centuries, it belongs to the so called Feldberg period. Its defensive earthwork, partly preserved today, extends over more than 250 metres and could have sheltered around a thousand people, suggesting it served as a refuge in times of danger. Traces of three gateways through the rampart can still be made out, one of which led down toward the river.
