To make a day of it
Burgstall Altenbrenda stands in Bischofsheim in der Rhön (Landkreis Rhön-Grabfeld), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.
Burgstall Altenbrenda marks the former location of a small medieval lowland fortification, now vanished, close to the deserted village of Altenbrenda near Unterweißenbrunn. First recorded in 1292, the stronghold came under the authority of the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg by the early 15th century, which granted portions of it as fiefs to local noble families. The site has since been completely built over, partly by a sewage treatment plant, and no visible remains survive above ground. Its significance today is purely historical rather than something to be seen on site.
