The Wasserschloss Unsleben stands at the northeastern edge of the village of Unsleben, within the floodplain of the river Streu, a branch of which still feeds the moat surrounding the building. The present structure, made up of two wings joined by a stair tower, dates largely from the 16th century, though its origins trace back to a moated mound mentioned as early as the 12th century. The east wing, with timber-framed upper floors over a stone base, bears the date 1527, while the west wing is topped by a baroque mansard roof. Two of the original four round towers survive, one of them partly housing the castle chapel.
