To make a day of it

Burganlage Dieburg stands in Dieburg (Landkreis Darmstadt-Dieburg), in Hesse, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

The Burganlage Dieburg, also known as Albinisches Schloss, stands on a fortified site founded in the mid 12th century by Staufer ministerials and the lords of Hagen-Münzenberg beside the Gersprenz river. Of the original moated castle, square in plan with an outer Zwinger and a central keep, only a corner tower known as the Schlossturm and remnants of the Zwinger walls remain. In the early 19th century Baron Franz Joseph von Albini, to whom Landgrave Louis X of Hesse had granted the estate, had most of the older buildings demolished and replaced them with a rectangular schloss that still bears his name. Visitors can also see the walls that once linked the stronghold to the town fortifications, a watercourse crossing over the Gersprenz, and a 16th century bridge.
