Burg Reifershardt is a bourgeois villa built around 1900 above the Sieg valley, in the hamlet of Werfen, part of the municipality of Windeck. Despite its name suggesting a fortress, it is in fact a residential house, erected for a retired army captain who had returned from America. Over the twentieth century the building served various purposes, from a boarding school annex to shelter for refugees and occupying troops, before returning to private hands. It is inhabited today and not open for interior visits.
