Burg Neidstein stands on a rocky plateau above Etzelwang, in the Landkreis Amberg-Sulzbach, Bavaria. The site combines the remains of a medieval stronghold dating back to around 1050 with a Renaissance residence completed in 1513 by Jobst von Brand, who rebuilt the property after the earlier fortress was destroyed. Having passed through many hands over the centuries, it belonged to the von Brand family until 2006 and was briefly owned by the actor Nicolas Cage before being acquired in 2009 by a lawyer from Amberg. Listed as a Baudenkmal in Bavaria, it now mainly serves as a venue for private events and celebrations.
