To make a day of it

Burg Lindenberg stands in Jülich (Kreis Düren), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

Burg Lindenberg is a former moated stronghold, now a working estate, in the Stetternich district of Jülich. Probably founded in the 12th century, it passed through several noble families before the barons von Eynatten converted it into a manor farm in 1743. Two towers along with remnants of walls and moat still mark the old fortified core, while the four-winged outer bailey remains in private use. A four-metre blue-stone wayside cross from the mid-18th century stands at the entrance to the grounds.

What to know

  • The outer bailey is now a private working farm and cannot be visited inside.
  • The towers and remains of the fortified core can only be seen from the access path or the nearby road.
  • There are no published opening hours or admission fees, as the site is not set up for visitors.
  • The estate lies in Stetternich, an outlying district of Jülich, easily recognised by the blue-stone wayside cross near the entrance.
  • A walk along the moat fed by the Ellebach allows the complex to be viewed from outside.
