To make a day of it

Burg Enger stands in Enger (Kreis Herford), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

Burg Enger no longer stands: this medieval stronghold in Enger, in the Kreis Herford, was destroyed by order after a siege in 1302 and its demolition confirmed in 1305, and its exact former location is still debated among local historians. A sign on a house at the corner of Burgstraße and Bäckerstraße marks the presumed site of the vanished fortress. Local legend links it to the Saxon duke Widukind, though no historical evidence supports this claim. A few fragments, including part of a coat of arms bearing the Lippe rose, are preserved embedded in the walls of the nearby Stiftskirche.
