Burg Davensberg stands in Ascheberg (Kreis Coesfeld), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Of Burg Davensberg, a knights' castle founded around 1250 by the lords of Meinhövel, only a round tower of brick and rubble stonework remains, built during an expansion of the complex around 1500 to 1530. Passed by marriage to the powerful von Büren family and later to the von Morrien and von Füchteln families, the site was burned down by Lüneburg troops in 1634 during the Thirty Years' War and gradually fell into ruin after 1750. The tower, last restored in 1971, now houses a museum run by a local heritage association, focused on old farming tools, along with a fireplace room, a former prison and a dungeon below.
