Castle Bibra stands in the middle of the village of Bibra, part of the municipality of Grabfeld, on the site of a moated stronghold founded by the von Bibra family in the 12th century. First recorded in 1119, it was rebuilt in 1486 in the style of a Franconian manorial court, then destroyed and restored several times, including during the Peasants' War and the Thirty Years' War. Sections of the outer wall and corner towers still remain from that long history. A renovated building on the site now houses a small seminar centre.
