To make a day of it

Bodendenkmal in Vilsbiburg, #D-2-7540-0073 stands in Vilsbiburg (Landkreis Landshut), in Bavaria, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

This site marks the location of a vanished medieval fortification west of the hamlet of Lichtenburg, part of the town of Vilsbiburg. No structure remains above ground: only buried archaeological traces survive, including remnants of outbuildings and earlier construction phases. The terrain takes the shape of an elongated figure eight, rising about twenty metres above the neighbouring village and once separated from the surrounding land by a curved neck ditch. Gravel extraction nearby has exposed brick masonry and debris layers, while also threatening the remaining earthworks.
