Schloss Neufraunhofen stands in Neufraunhofen, in Lower Bavaria, on a site first recorded in the twelfth century under the name Öd, home to an early noble estate. Around 1390 Wilhelm von Fraunhofen renamed the property and, between the late fourteenth and early fifteenth centuries, had it turned into a proper castle. The buildings seen today largely date from a series of building phases in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, including a north wing added in 1630 and the castle church built in 1709 to 1714. Still privately owned by descendants of the same family, the complex combines the main residential wings, an inner courtyard, a former Capuchin hospice and a park.
