In Pauillac, château Pontet-Canet is first and foremost a wine estate, ranked fifth growth in the 1855 classification, with neo-classical buildings dating from the 18th century. The colonnade at the main entrance, built in 1781, was inspired by that of Bordeaux's Grand Théâtre, inaugurated the year before. The 81-hectare vineyard, farmed biodynamically, spreads over the gravel mounds typical of the Médoc region. The estate also served as the main filming location for the 1983 film J'ai épousé une ombre, starring Nathalie Baye.
