Perched on a rocky spur above the village of Le Beaucet, the ruins of this 12th-century fortress command wide views over Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail. Built by the counts of Toulouse and later held by the bishops of Carpentras, it kept its military role until the early 17th century before being destroyed by a lightning-sparked fire in 1783. Restored by the local council, the ruined structure keeps its romantic character while now housing community rooms and an open esplanade.

The esplanade is freely accessible, opening automatically in the morning and closing in the evening depending on the season.
Access is on foot from the village, via the Chemin de l'Alouette, or from a nearby car park.
Only ruins remain of the original fortress: ramparts, wall sections, and traces of the drawbridge and moat.
