Ce château illustre l'importance politique et économique de la communauté juive de Bayonne, tout particulièrement au 19e siècle où cet ancien domaine viticole est transformé en maison de campagne. Placée sur la ligne de front durant le siège de Bayonne en 1814, la demeure fut le théâtre de violents combats. Elle est restaurée dès 1848 puis à nouveau transformée en 1918 par l'architecte Gomez. Au nord, les jardins sont composés de trois parties distinctes : un jardin d'agrément entourant la villa ; une terrasse surplombant la pente du vallon ; la forte pente et le vallon en contre-bas
