The Château du Pineau stands in Champ-sur-Layon, a delegated commune of Bellevigne-en-Layon, on grounds occupied since the 15th century by a succession of noble families. Burned down during the Revolution and the Vendée wars, the present building was rebuilt between 1844 and 1872 by architect René Hodé for Charles Delaunay. Two round towers remain from the earlier stronghold, the only visible traces of the medieval château with its drawbridge and moats.
