To make a day of it

Château du Bois du Loup stands in Augan (Morbihan), in the Bretagne region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

The Château du Bois du Loup stands in ruins in the commune of Augan, within the grounds of the Coëtquidan military camp. The current neo-Gothic building, erected between 1871 and 1874 for Count Roland des Clos de la Fonchais, replaced an earlier manorial residence whose origins date back to the 9th century. Handed over to the French army in 1910, it was occupied in turn by French, German and American forces, the latter destroying it during artillery exercises in 1945. Still at risk of collapse, it has never been restored.
