Château du Banchet stands in Châteauneuf (Saône-et-Loire), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. Set on a promontory above the Sornin valley, the Château du Banchet stands where a Carolingian stronghold once rose before being destroyed by the Écorcheurs in the 15th century. Girard de la Madeleine rebuilt the manor house from 1519, and a restoration carried out in 1896 by architect Rotival gave the building its present appearance, with round towers, a stair turret and neo-Gothic Troubadour-style decor. The park still holds a feudal motte, an ice house and scattered remains of the earlier enclosure.
