The château des Huttes stands on the high ground of Polminhac, in the Cantal region, on the site of a former medieval toll on the road linking Carlat to Saint-Flour via the Plomb du Cantal. The main house, built in the first half of the 17th century and altered at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th centuries, has a rectangular body flanked by a corner tower and a conical turret, built of basalt and volcanic tuff rubble beneath a stone-slab roof. Surrounding farm buildings, barns, stables and a bread oven, some dating back to the 18th century, still stand nearby. The estate long belonged to the Pagès des Huttes family, a junior branch of the Pagès de Vixouze.
