Perched on a rocky spur above the road to the Oderen pass, at 666 metres of altitude, the ruins of Wildenstein castle crown the Schlossberg above Kruth. First recorded in 1312, the stronghold endured sieges and destruction through the 17th century, later serving as a stone quarry for nearby villages. Visitors today find low wall fragments, traces of round towers, steps cut into the rock, and a tunnel leading to the lower courtyard.
