On the southern edge of Verrey-sous-Salmaise, set on a low rise between two country roads, stands a château rebuilt in the last third of the 18th century. Its long facade, topped with a pediment carved with allegories of Justice, is partly screened by the trees of its park. French-style gardens laid out behind the building remain out of sight from the road. The site has been occupied since the Middle Ages, though the original moats and walls have long given way to the classical residence seen today.
