To make a day of it

Château de Thugny-Trugny stands in Thugny-Trugny (Ardennes), in the Grand Est region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century, 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

At the far end of the village of Thugny-Trugny, facing the Aisne valley, this château combines a fortified-looking gatehouse, complete with machicolations and turrets, with a more classical wing overlooking the canal. Built from the second half of the 16th century for the Suzanne family, it reached its most splendid period in the 18th century under the Crozat family, one of the great fortunes of the kingdom, before being largely destroyed during the First World War and rebuilt in the 1920s. Set apart among the trees, a seigneurial barn flanked by pepper-pot turrets still stands.
