The house was described in the early twentieth century as a white façade set against the greenery of an extensive park with woods, orchards and glasshouses, and it retains a low-key, little-documented character today. What is known of its past centres on a court-ordered sale in 1886 and a fire that damaged an outbuilding in 1910.
