Château des Amendes stands in Montereau-Fault-Yonne (Seine-et-Marne), in the Île-de-France region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Château des Amendes is a bourgeois residence built in the second half of the 19th century in Montereau-Fault-Yonne, commissioned by Edme Frontier, director of the town's earthenware factory. Its name, long shrouded in mystery, is said to refer to fines imposed on factory workers, the proceeds of which allegedly helped fund the town's volunteer fire brigade. Now a municipal building, it no longer functions as a museum but remains a landmark of Montereau's industrial past.
