To make a day of it

Château de Servières stands in Saint-Didier-sur-Doulon (Haute-Loire), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 13th century, 15th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château de Servières stands in Saint-Didier-sur-Doulon, in the Haute-Loire department, built on the remains of a 13th-century fortified house first recorded as a castrum in 1250. The keep-residence and the outer courtyard have largely kept their early form, while two towers flank the facade on the escarpment side. The windows, opened in the 15th century, and an 18th-century interior refit show how the building evolved while remaining in use. The ground floor still holds vaulted rooms dating from the medieval period.
