La tour était primitivement à deux étages, les créneaux anciens ayant été remontés au troisième étage d'une construction plus récente. Au 16e siècle, les meurtrières plus étroites du 15e siècle, dont il reste deux exemples au second étage, ont été remplacées par des fenêtres à meneaux. Ce château est l'une des seules constructions militaires subsistant du 15e siècle en Labourd.
