Château de Ruat stands in Le Teich (Gironde), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century, 19th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.
Located in Le Teich, in the Gironde department, the château de Ruat recalls the captaincy of Buch, whose lords used it from the 15th century as part of the defensive line around the Arcachon basin. Reworked in the 19th century under the Festugière and Espinasse families, close to Napoleon III, the building now shows little of its original medieval structure. Only the round tower with machicolations still evokes its fortified past.
