The château de Pressures stands at Clamecy, in the Nièvre department, at the bottom of the Sauzay valley which it once guarded. This former fortified house, first recorded in 1389, keeps its rectangular layout surrounded by wide water-filled moats, crossed by a 15th-century bridge leading to a gatehouse flanked by a square tower. A round tower linked to a residential wing and a rectangular tower to the west of the platform can also be seen. During the French Revolution the building served as a prison, holding several residents of Clamecy before their execution in Paris.
