To make a day of it

Château de Pibrac stands in Pibrac (Haute-Garonne), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century, 19th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château de Pibrac stands in the Haute-Garonne region, rebuilt in red brick during the 16th century on the foundations of an earlier defensive manor. The architect Nicolas Bachelier is believed to have overseen the work that turned it into a pleasure residence, marked by a central tower with chamfered corners and corner watch turrets within the courtyard. The site is linked to Guy du Faur de Pibrac, said to have been born there and to have written his Quatrains moraux in a study with vaulted ceilings decorated with mythological scenes. The surrounding park, laid out at the end of the 19th century by landscape designer Eugène Bühler, covers fourteen hectares.
