Château de Montvéran stands in Culoz-Béon (Ain), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: first quarter of the 14th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Perched at the tip of a rocky outcrop above Culoz, Montvéran castle is a former fortified house said to date back to 1316, built under the authority of lord Pierre de Luyrieux. The structure seen today, a tall rectangular building flanked by round towers and topped with machicolations, more likely dates from the 15th century and was restored in the 19th. Near the approach lane, remains of an old water reservoir and a stone aqueduct that once fed the seigneurial mills can still be seen.
