The château de Montauquier stands in Cuq-Toulza, in the Tarn department, a sober building whose origins remain uncertain but which appears to date from the 17th and 18th centuries. The main residence, flanked by secondary wings around an inner courtyard, has a seven-bay facade marked by a sundial. The estate still holds a wooded park, a dovecote and a notable well. General Joseph d'Hargenvilliers lived there after his marriage in 1794 and died there in 1841.
