What the French Ministry of Culture records
Cet édifice servit de seconde résidence aux archevêques de Tours. Le site était occupé par un temple et une villa gallo-romains. L'entrée se fait par une cour entourée de communs de la fin du 17e siècle qui jouxtent le logis du 19e siècle. Sa façade surplombe une grande terrasse formée d'une avancée à trois faces, surmontée d'un fronton baroque, peu habituel dans cette région. Sur la façade sud, deux petites ailes en retour d'équerre ont été ajoutées, formant une petite cour bordée par le fossé. A l'ouest, séparée du bâtiment 19e et dominant les douves, subsiste une tour dite d'Aubigny, ancienne tour du rempart de Candes, restaurée au 19e siècle. Elle commande un pont de pierre qui enjambe les douves. A l'intérieur, certaines pièces conservent un décor de boiseries et des papiers peints du 19e représentant des scènes mythologiques.
