To make a day of it

Château de Mirville stands in Mirville (Seine-Maritime), in the Normandie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century, 19th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The château de Mirville, in the Seine-Maritime region, is a 16th century residence built upon an earlier fortified mound dating back to the 11th century. The estate owes much of its fame to Pierre de Coubertin, who spent a large part of his life there and wrote several founding texts of the modern Olympic movement. A commemorative plaque recalls this connection, and an Olympic flame stopped here in 1991. As a private property, the building today can mainly be appreciated from its exterior.
