Built in the 12th century atop a 90-metre cliff overlooking the Seine estuary, Orcher castle has kept its defensive position while changing character entirely: in the 18th century the Planterose de Melmont family turned the fortress into a residence with finely crafted woodwork. The view stretches over the Pont de Normandie, Honfleur and Le Havre. The estate has remained with the same family line ever since it was acquired in 1735, now held by the d'Harcourt family.
