To make a day of it

The château de la Payennière once stood between Épouville and Montivilliers, on the heights above the left bank of the Lézarde river in Seine-Maritime. This Norman manor house, whose origins may date back to the 16th century according to a baptismal record from 1581, passed through several owners, including a squire who built mills along the river in the early 19th century. Abandoned after the Second World War, the building gradually fell into ruin, and its last remains were demolished in 1978. No structure remains visible on the site today.
