Overlooking the confluence of the Tarn and the Rûnes rivers, the Château de Miral stands with its square keep and round tower in the heart of the Cévennes, in Lozère. Built in the 13th century and later extended in the 16th and 17th centuries by the Malbosc de Miral family, it retains mullioned windows and interior wall paintings dating from the Renaissance. Left in ruins after the French Revolution, the building owes its present state to a private restoration carried out in the early 1980s.
