The Château d'Arigès stands on a bend of the Tarn river, in Bédouès-Cocurès, in the heart of the Cévennes region of Lozère. Built from the 17th century onward around a former farmhouse by the Chapelain family, it later passed to the Cabot de la Fare family, who shaped village life nearby for a century and a half. Now privately owned and under restoration, it cannot be visited, but its central block flanked by two wings and its tower of about twenty metres can still be seen from the road or from the Stevenson trail on the opposite bank.
