To make a day of it

Château de Florac stands in Lozère (Lozère), in the Occitanie region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Built on a limestone and tufa outcrop in the town of Florac, this château was rebuilt in 1652 on the site of a Gévaudan barony dating back to the 13th century. After serving as a salt store and then a state prison following its sale in 1810, it still bears traces of that period, including barred windows and cell doors. Since 1976 it has housed the headquarters of the Cévennes National Park along with a permanent exhibition on the region's landscapes.
