To make a day of it

Château de Millemont stands in Millemont (Yvelines), in the Île-de-France region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century, 17th century, 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

At Millemont, in the Yvelines, two châteaux stand facing each other on the same estate: a small building from the early 16th century, built for a governor of Montfort, and a larger château raised in the early 18th century by an advocate general at the Parlement de Paris. The estate passed through several centuries of owners, from the Polignac family to the Richards and then the Béjots, before falling into neglect in the late 20th century and later being restored. Its grounds have featured in several films, including Sofia Coppola's Marie-Antoinette.
