To make a day of it

Château de Messigny-et-Vantoux stands in Messigny-et-Vantoux (Côte-d'Or), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

South of the hamlet of Vantoux, near Dijon, this early 18th century château stands on the platform of a former fortified house whose moats and eight corner turrets left their trace in the ground. Rebuilt between 1699 and 1704 for a chief president of the Dijon parliament, the massive building is attributed to Jules Hardouin-Mansart, with Jacques-Gabriel or Martin de Noinville overseeing its construction. A private property, it can be viewed from outside, together with its main courtyard and wooded park.
