Mérens castle is a Gascon structure whose origins reach back to the late 13th century. A square tower from this period still stands in the south-western corner. Between 1604 and 1613, the castle underwent major renovation: mullioned windows were added, defensive systems strengthened with a new rampart walk, and an eastern wing was constructed. Remains of the medieval fortifications are incorporated into the wine storage building on the western side. The site now operates as an agricultural property.
