In Meillonnas, in the Ain department, stands the former fortified castle of the local seigneury, built from 1350 onwards by Humbert de Corgenon. Three towers, sections of wall and Renaissance-era buildings remain, along with 15th and 16th century wall paintings in the north tower. The site later housed a faience manufactory that brought the village some renown. The castle is not open to the general public.
