In Murat, in the Cantal department, the château de Massebeau presents two wings facing each other around an enclosed courtyard, built in the second half of the 15th century on a lordship first recorded in 1315. Each wing is centred on a staircase tower overlooking the courtyard. Inside, a coffered ceiling survives on the first floor of the north wing, while the south wing retains two monumental fireplaces.
