To make a day of it

Château de Marçay stands in Marçay (Indre-et-Loire), in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century, 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In Marçay, in the Indre-et-Loire department, this château combines a defensive medieval silhouette with a residence reworked over the centuries. Two round towers, pierced with arrow slits and topped with machicolations, flank a main building dating from the 15th century, itself built on the site of an earlier stronghold. Traces of the moat remain on the eastern side, and two wings ending in polygonal turrets extend to the south. The whole underwent major alterations between 1890 and 1914.
